how to repair a burn spot on my oak color dresser?
I forgot my candle burning, and it made a black burn circle on my dresser top.
Is it actually oak or just oak colour? If it is wood, you will need to sand the entire dresser and re-stain it.
If it is press board, you will have to live with it or replace it. I don't know of anyway to repair burnt press board.

Question on engagement rings?
My bf and I are talking more seriously about getting engaged. My dream engagement ring is not a diamond - he knows that I don't like them.
My "dream engagement ring" is one made out of coyol seed (looks like dark wood and comes from a Nicuraguan tree) with a sterling silver or white gold liner. Then, a bit of something inlaid into the ring, such as natural resin or some sort of stone.
This type of ring fits better with my personality and everyday life-style. My question is, I want the proposal to be a surprise, and that includes the ring. I don't want to know he's buying it and I don't want to design the ring myself so that it's a surprise, but I also want him to know what I like.
How can I tell him what I like without "pressuring" him and letting the ring still be a surprise? I have no sisters and my two best friends can't keep a secret from me! We have a very open relationship but I don't want to ruin any surprise. Thanks.
Just let him know that's what you want. Or you could be browsin the internet and saying "ooo, I really love this ring"
Our wedding rings are made of wood. Many people think it's ridiculous to not have a metal ring, but oh well, it's what we love!

What wood would be best to use for a retro style sideboard?
This is a school project actually going towards my final grade for college I have a few months to make it. I was thinking of using teak but I remember being told that teak is very hard to work with. What would be a good type of wood to use?

This is an example of the sorta thing I was gona make. I'd like the wood to be that sort of shade as well.
That particular piece is most likely a veneered product, and not solid lumber. Veneers have been around a long time.
Today, you can actually purchase plywood with a selection of surface veneers pretty easily.... anything from mahogany, to oak, birch, ash, maple... all kinds of choices. There are even some 'manufactured' wood grains in use commercially. You're looking for something with a relatively straight grain.
You need to ask yourself, do you want to do the veneer work yourself? or purchase something already veneered?

More complex pieces are likely to get your instructor's attention, and perhaps, a better grade, hehehe.
